Agronomy Research Update 2024
By Tyce Masich, BSc, AAg, Crops Extension Specialist, Outlook
November 2024
Agronomy Research Update, hosted by the Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture, is returning to Saskatoon on December 10 and 11, 2024, at TCU Place and online. Organized by the crops extension specialist team, Agronomy Research Update is a two-day event where various researchers and industry members present findings of agronomic research conducted in Western Canada. Participants are encouraged to attend both days as each day has different speakers. If you can’t make it both days, participants have the option to sign up for either day.
Why attend Agronomy Research Update?
Agronomy Research Update is a great opportunity to learn about recent agronomic issues in Western Canada and help prepare you for the 2025 growing season. It is also an opportunity to network with many different industry members including researchers, agronomists, producers and Ministry of Agriculture specialists.
There will be speakers from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada, the University of Saskatchewan, commodity groups, and other research institutions presenting on a wide variety of topics. Notable topics that will be discussed include pesticide use, soil fertility and remediation and pest management strategies. Saskatchewan Ministry of Agriculture provincial specialists will provide updates on pest activity during the 2024 growing season and how this could impact crop production in 2025. Additionally, there will be a panel featuring plant pathologists and cereal crop breeders to discuss Fusarium Head Blight risks in Western Canada for 2025.
There will also be a resource area with displays, posters and books for participants to view throughout the event. We offer continuing education credits for in-person and online attendees who view the event live. Participants attending in-person will receive lunch, refreshments and take-home material.
