Agriview Spring 2025

Welcome to the April edition of Agriview+

Minister's Message

It goes without saying that it’s been a busy start to the year for everyone in the agriculture industry.

Daryl Harrison
Minister Darryl Harrison

Trade has been top of mind not only for the provincial government, but the vast network of people, businesses, communities and sectors across Saskatchewan that are part of our export-based economy. Agriculture, in particular, relies on our connections to international markets, and generations of our farmers and ranchers have helped build Saskatchewan’s global reputation for resilience and excellence when it comes to supplying the world with the food it needs.

That reputation gives us solid ground to stand on during trade missions, including our recent engagements with some of our largest and most important trading partners—India, Mexico, the United Arab Emirates and our biggest partner of all, the United States. We rely on these trading partners and they rely on us. This tradition of strong, reciprocal trading relationships is a good thing, and the basis for developing even more positive, sustained growth and prosperity for everyone. This is the message we’ve been taking to business partners, buyers and government officials at home and abroad, as we work to strengthen those relationships and build new ones to diversify our markets and secure Saskatchewan’s economic future.

With the arrival of spring and the beginning of a new growing season, there is no shortage of work to be done on your operations. In this issue of Agriview, you can read about some of the timely assistance we offer through the Ministry of Agriculture, such as the popular Farm and Ranch Water Infrastructure Program which can help you develop livestock water sources and availability. You can also read about some of the scientific research we fund to help you make your operations more effective and perhaps the best in the world. This issue also provides an opportunity to learn more about the people and activities helping to educate others about what makes Saskatchewan agriculture so important—and exciting.

I’m confident and optimistic about the direction Saskatchewan’s agriculture industry is moving, and always have been. Thanks to all of you and the work you do every day that keeps it strong!

Daryl Harrison
Minister of Agriculture
