Canada's Agriculture Day Photo Contest Winners

On February 15, 2023, people across the country recognized the importance of the agriculture industry in Canada. Here in Saskatchewan, amidst the celebrations, the Ministry of Agriculture marked Canada’s Agriculture Day by hosting our third annual photo contest. Like previous years, this year was a resounding success, with over 175 outstanding entries. Our first-place winner this year was Amanda Bendickson and her landscapes entry that received over 400 likes, 57 comments and two shares on the Ministry of Agriculture Facebook page.

Bendickson was raised born and raised in Saskatchewan. Growing up on her family’s livestock operation, she learned to appreciate the amazing agriculture industry and the hard work and dedication that goes into producing the food we all enjoy.

Bendickson enjoys taking photos and considers it a hobby. In her photo, you can see the gentle drops of morning dew on the vibrant purple petals of the crocus—a true sign of spring in Saskatchewan. Bendickson’s photo triggered some nostalgia among many Facebook visitors, making it no surprise her photo was selected as the winner.

“Our home and way of life provides me with the most beautiful of canvases,” Bendickson explained. “We were riding through the cows on our morning calving check in the hills and the moment [to take the photo] presented itself.”

Bendickson is grateful to be part of the resilient industry and looks forward to submitting more photos in next year’s contest.

Thank you to all who submitted and took time to vote. Be sure to keep an eye out for next year’s contest to share your own special photos!
