Wild Boar Farming

Wild boar farms in Saskatchewan are newly regulated under The Animal Production Regulations. All wild boar farms are required to apply for a licence by January 1, 2025. After this date a moratorium will be in place and no new wild boar farm licence applications will be accepted. There is no charge for a wild boar licence.

All wild boar farmers are required to meet regulatory requirements including:

  • Annual inspections;
  • Enclosure/fencing;
  • Reporting any escapes from captivity; and
  • Maintaining records.

Reporting an escape:

  • Producers are required to report escapes directly to their local Game Farm Investigator.
  • If members of the public see a wild boar outside of a fence, it should be reported to SCIC through the Feral Wild Boar Control Program.

To discuss or obtain:

  • Wild boar licensing – contact the Game Farm Clerk at 306-787-4606.
  • Wild boar farming related inquiries or concerns – contact the Livestock Branch at 306-787-2150
