Livestock Loan Guarantee Program

Financing Livestock

The Livestock Loan Guarantee (LLG) program ceased active operation July 31, 2019. For inquiries about outstanding loan balances, please contact Programs Branch by email or 306-787-4325.

There are a number of lenders which operate in livestock finance and these are a few of the places to inquire:

  • Chartered Banks;
  • Credit Unions;
  • Farm Credit Canada;
  • Cooperative Lending Organizations;
  • Advance Payments Program; or
  • Livestock Market Financing.

Brand Releases

Cattle carrying a shelter brand may have been previously financed through LLG. Many of those brands were transferred to SK Livestock Finance Co-operative Ltd. (SKLF), a new province-wide, producer-owned lending organization. Active use of some of those shelter brands is continuing by SKLF.

Brand Ownership can be confirmed on Livestock Services of Saskatchewan website under "search brands."

For questions about brands or releases on cattle with an active brand registered to SKLF, please visit SKLF's website or contact SKLF at 306-775-COWS (2697) or by email.

For inactive brands, please contact Programs Branch at 306-787-4325 or by email to determine if a release can be made.
